Installation problem and now Adobe Help Manager update problem

Hello All

when i installed my Creative Cloud programs i had a problem with it. the adobe application manager would tell me that the program was installed, happened first on premiere pro, but that some components werent. i tried reinstalling, didnt help. i took a look at the folders and saw that everything was there, but there were absolutely no security permissions, no administrator or anything. it was like the installer had forced the folder to be created without getting permission from windows. the message in the windows where the list of groups and users usually is read like this:

No permissions have been assigned for this object.

Warning: this is a potential security risk because anyone who can access this object can take ownership of it. The object’s owner should assign permissions as soon as possible.

so i did what it said. i put myself as the owner of the folder and then added myself as a full control user on the folder, but just for premiere pro. the path was:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS6

but after doing this the next program that was "installed" by the application manager had the same problem. so i went to C:\Program Files\Adobe\ and took the ownership and permissions there as well because it had the same message.

now looking at in in hindsight i think the problem might have been that i didnt run the AdobeApplicationManager.exe file as an administrator. but everything that was important to me at the time works.

however...

now i am trying to update my help files by using the adobe help manager and i am seeing a dialog that says:

please wait while the downloaded files are extracted. extracting large files my take serveral minutes.

it has been hours.

i thought that running this as administrator might fix it but it hasnt.

anyone have any thoughts? it isnt a big problem right now because i am getting work done, but i would like everything to run smoothly and i have been trying to use the local help from time to time.

another other question...

is there a way to print out all the keyboard shortcuts for a program, i have been looking at the place where i can change the shortcuts everytime i need to do something, but that is getting tedious.

and the last thing that i have thought of...

why isnt there a keyboard shortcut to toggle the timeline scroll in premiere pro? it woud be nice to be able to hit a key command that changes it from no scroll to page scroll to smooth scroll and back again. maybe i just didnt see it, but it seems like something that would be handy to me.

Thanks for moving it... I guess.

For future readers, make sure that after you have downloaded the adobe application manager that you run the exe file as an administrator or you wont get a good install. I spent the day redoing everything to see if that would fix the problem. about the only thing it fixed were the broken start menu icons.

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to help me with the problem I have.

I installed and had a problem where the entire folder set for all the adobe products had no permissions, as I had stated in my post. I corrected it by taking ownership, but I then had a problem where the adobe help manager would not complete the download and extraction of files. there was also a problem with the project that I was working on in Premiere and so I needed to rule out a bad installation.

I did uninstall and reinstall by running the adobe application manager as an administrator. This seems to have corrected the problem I was having with the download and installation of the help files as there are no updates and I did let the help manager run a long time yesterday. I guess it just takes a really long time, much longer than I expected.

However, this has not corrected the problem I am having with the one clip in my Premiere timeline showing as green frames when the file plays perfectly in windows media and other players. In fact I imported the footage file as a timeline into encore and encore played it perfectly. So whatever the problem is, it seems to only affect Premiere. I suspect that I should post that in another forum.

I have emailed the Log file you requested.
