Is it possible to update CC apps offline?

Where I live, my only Internet access is through my phone's hotspot. Verizon's "unlimited" data is limited to 15GB so getting CC updates on my desktop is hard. I can take my laptop somewhere and get the updates on it though. Is there some way I could download the update files on my laptop while I'm on a hotspot and then bring them home and transfer them to my desktop? That would help enormously.

ProDesign Tools has links to Adobe CC 2019 direct downloads.

It looks like these are outdated files. After downloading them and running the installer it actually downgrades my apps to previous versions with no warning that it's doing it. The only way I knew was that I checked the version number before and after. Is there a place to get direct download links to current versions?

... and now I can't open any of my files because they were saved in a newer version. 😞

I don't think there's anyway to get offline updates for CC apps, as far as I'm aware the only way is through the Creative Cloud app, the installers from prodesigntools are not the most recent versions of the app unfortunately

Yeah, unfortunately I just learned that the hard way and I'm now I'm stuck with PP project files that I can't open because they were saved in a newer version and I have no way to update to the latest version because my unlimited data is all used up for the month. This is incredibly frustrating. 😞

Must be nice. The best I can do is LTE. I've heard Verizon will up the data cap from 15 to 50GB once 5G rolls out. Whenever that is. With my luck it will only apply to 5G connections though, which will be years away from reaching me out here. Wouldn't it be nice if these megacorps cared about their customers?

Dev-Willis, Ged Traynor is correct there is no way for individual members to download CC updates to install locally.  This feature is available with a Creative Cloud for Team or Enterprise membership.  For individual members access to stable high-speed internet access is necessary.

As an alternative, you can turn off auto-updates within the Creative Cloud desktop app.  Information on how to accomplish this can be found at https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html.  You could then wait to apply the updates until you are able to obtain access to stable high-speed Internet for the laptop.

I always take my laptop elsewhere for updates. It's my desktop that's the problem. It's a real chore to tear it down and set back up somewhere else, then tear it back down and bring it back home. And, incidentally, if Adobe did a better job with their software it wouldn't be an issue at all. Verizon is able to call my data "unlimited" because it doesn't actually shut off at 15GB. It just slows down to 600Kbps max. My real-world downstream speeds during this time average around 300Kbps. This means I should still be able to download a 1.8GB update in ~14 hours. But for whatever reason Adobe updates do not download at all at this speed. The downloads always get stuck between 25% and 50%. Even after 48 hours they still have not completed. Windows updates download just fine over this slow connection. Why can't Adobe do it?

I just read your post again. So it's possible to update offline but only if you're willing to pay more money? Sounds just like something Adobe would do...

Dev_willis the ability to deploy applications and updates over a local network is a requirement for a Creative Cloud for Team or Enterprise members as they have multiple computers to update and maintain.  Stable high-speed Internet access is still required to download the components for the installation package.

As previously stated, this feature is not available with an individual membership, as it is not needed.  The expectation is that you should be able to manage your updates and installations yourself. You can find the complete system requirements for an individual Creative Cloud membership at https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/system-requirements.html.

Managing my own updates is exactly what I'm trying to do. Adobe has not provided me the tools to do it. Clearly the expectation is for users to NOT manage their own updates and instead let the CC app do it. It makes no sense to say that the feature for managing my own updates isn't needed because I'm expected to manage my own updates. The feature is absolutely needed--it's not available because Adobe wants more money for it. I get that my case is an edge case though. Adobe isn't interested in going the extra mile for their users. It cuts into profit margins.

I completely agree.  It is unbelievable that update files are not available to install off-line.  I have a PC on a metered internet connection that would take a long time and dilute my monthly access allowance considerably.  Why will Adobe not support such systems.  I pay for my licence so why not provide me with the ability to maintain my software.  Obviously, I need an internet connection to use the package but I should be able to download a file on a fast connection then take it to my slow connected PC.

I have requested this in the past but been turned down because "it is not a requirement" - I and others beg to differ!

you can download the apps by contacting adobe support.  there are 2 ways to contact adobe; chat and twitter (now x):

chat:
use a browser that allows popups and cookies
and click here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
in the chat field (lower right), type AGENT
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human.

twitter/x:
tweet @AdobeCare

p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative.

If you require offline updates, you need a Teams/Enterprise plan.

Thanks, but I know this.  The point is that updates for most other software can be downloaded for off-line use, so why do Adobe not provide this facility?  It would not be difficult to provide a link within Creative Cloud to an update file so that users who have a second PC on a slow or metered internet can download to a USB stick and update their legal software more easily.

I suppose, that someone at Adobe did have a reasoning for not providing downloads. I can imagine some reasons for that. But you are not done with updating Adobe software, you also need to update your OS. I would guess that permanent metered connections are no more adequate to modern computing.
