Hi
I have an issue where I have deactived a previous licence of Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 on one computer and upon trying to reinstall on another computer it is saying that the license is currently being used. I have tried reinstalling the Suite back on to the original computer but now can not activate it with that license key anymore. I have also deactivated it from the activated devices on the adobe website as well.
Is there any other way to reset the license or check if there are any other PC's using it?
Thanks

if purchased from or registered with adobe, the activitated devices should be listed at the account used to purchase/register.
i'm not sure that will help you because of what you already posted.

Hi
Unfortunately that doesn't help as stated I have already checked the activated devices on the account and deactivated it from there as well which I thought would have been the fix but still having the issue.
Thanks for the comment š

just to clarify; when trying to install you're seeing an excess activation count message, correct?

Correct - When installing I see the message 2 computers are already using this license when as seen in the above image I have already deactived all the devices that are affilated with the key.

i don't think you have any options left, but (on a long shot) maybe adobe employee @Jeff_A_Wright can explain what you're seeing.

@Ross36321268ikgz sorry you cannot utilize your upgrade to Adobe Design Premium CS5.5. Please make sure you are using the installation files located under your account. You can find information on how to download the proper language at https://community.adobe.com/t5/download-install-discussions/download-non-subscription-adobe-software....
I checked the activation history, and you have activations remaining. I don't see a full version of the software title registered under your account. When you enter your upgrade serial number, do you see the errors described in https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-serial-number-qualifying-product.html? If not, can you post a screenshot of the specific error you are encountering?

Hi Jeff
Thanks for your reply.
I have encountered the above error about a serial number upgrade before but had a previous Adobe CS2 licence key that we were upgrading from.
The error that I am receieving now is as shown below (license key blurred)

Ok, thanks for confirming, Ross. I still show you have remaining activations on the CS5.5 upgrade license under your account and no recent activation requests. From your post it sounds like you have used your available options to manage the activations.
I am still suspicious that there could be a failure in the licensing files or activation technology that could lead to these errors. I should see even a denied request, but the history is empty, Ross.
I am unsure how far you want to attempt to troubleshoot the software, but you could try downloading and running the CC Cleaner Tool from https://adobe.ly/3PGy9ol and choose the option to Clean All.
This should remove any damaged licensing files or application files and might allow the software to activate, Ross.
Make sure if you do run the CC Cleaner tool that you download and utilize a fresh copy of your installation files as discussed in https://adobe.ly/3PDQAtI. The language assigned to your serial number is very specific, so if you are not using the correct installation files, then you could encounter the message that the serial number is not valid. Using the files offered to you in Account Management will ensure they match the language of your license.
Finally, Ross, please bookmark https://adobe.ly/3VCFYPI if you complete the install process to find that the software is unable to contact our servers to complete the activation. I would also recommend that you verify that any pending updates for Windows are installed. I don't know what version of Windows you are using, but only an up-to-date version will be able to contact our servers. More information can be found at https://adobe.ly/3TsWZc8. ^JW

Hi Jeff
Thanks again for all your help with helping me try to reslove this issue.
I have followed the steps above and have done the following:
1. Run the CC Cleaner tool on both the computer I'm trying to install Adobe in and the previous computer.
2. Re download Adobe from account instead of using the disk for the download
3. Turned off firewalls and allowed Adobe access through firewalls as well during activation.
I am still getting the message saying that the license is being used by 2 computers already as seen in the previous screenshot.
Is there anything else that could possibly done to check or reset the license?
Once again thank you for all your help.
Thanks
Ross

Ok, I am sorry then, Ross, I would recommend you purchase a new software license for software designed to work in 2024. ^JW

It is difficult to say that the steps you performed should have reset any licensing files, but you have made no mention of the new sign-in experience, and the computer is not seeing the available activations. I am sorry, Ross; you are welcome to try the suggestions I offered again to see if you get a different result. ^JW

I wonder if it might be due to the fact that it is an upgrade version from a CS version that the activation servers are dead?

@Peru Bob the only type of error @Ross36321268ikgz could receive with the upgrade serial number is listed in https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-serial-number-qualifying-product.html.
Activation occurs after the software license is validated. I checked the history and there are still zero activation attempts for Design Premium, which leads me to think that the activation technology is blocked from contacting us or some other failure leading to the results in @Ross36321268ikgz 's screenshot.
The computer isn't actually contacting Adobe; if it did, then @Ross36321268ikgz would be presented with a QR code to complete the activation process as described in https://community.adobe.com/t5/download-install-discussions/signing-into-and-activating-legacy-adobe... and https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/reactivate-older-apps.html specifically.
@Ross36321268ikgz great job running the CC Cleaner tool and attempting to fix any damaged licensing and activation files.
You are welcome to try activating Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium on a different computer, to see if you get a better result. You do have activations remaining for the license.
