I own Lightroom 5 but recently had my H/D upgraded to a SSD and now find that I have lost Lightroom. I have been able to reinstall it on my new SSD (downloaded the original version from an online reseller) but now prompted for a serial number. Adobe's site said to check My Account on Adobe as if I had register it, they would have a copy. It seems that since only versions of Elements appear there, I must not have registered Lightroom? Any thoughts on what I can do next?
OH yes...the problem is further compounded by not having email on the machine either as the new SSD requires me to reinstall Outlook and I have not begun searching for where I got from.
Do you still have the old HD? Lightroom, and your serial number are on that HD.
Yes it's on the old drive and yes I have it. How can I determine the serial number when I can't launch from the old drive?
The serial number for LR 5 and previous version is stored in a file on you old hard drive.
Near the bottom.
/Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Lightroom 5.0 Registration
I found a file called Lightroom 5.0 Registration.Irreg but what can I use to open it?
Any text editor will work, or even Microsoft Word
