Hello
I have been running Lightroom 6.8 standalone on Windows 10 for some time
I also dual boot Lightroom on the same machine using Win 7.
I did notice that in the about section
I was signed in
I signed out and got a messgae saying that if I signed out Lightroom would be disabled, so I signed out and closedLightroom.
I restarted it and was asked to sign in.
Why I have a paid for serial number, which I keep putting in and it jusr gets ignored?
If I login in to my account I see my purchase history and the fact that I paid for Lightoom 6 with a serial number.
In spite of this I have to be PERMANENTLY signed in to use Lightroom
WHY?
THIS IS NOT TRIAL SOFTWARE

Hello
I am now accused of giving conflicting information which I deny.
All I can see from this episode is that you really did not quite understand the problem and were only interested in finding out if I had a licenced copy of Lightroom 6.
From your latest reply I can only conclude that Adobe's CC licencing and activation/deactivation methods are now so complex a standard uninstall is not sufficient, to remove the products from a computer. A user has to in effect, use a virus removal agent to clean

Hello
Further to this I have read
How to convert a Lightroom CC trial to Lightroom 6
The splash screen comes up as Lightroom 6.8.
I have followed all the instructions, put in my serial number, but still loose Lightroom if I sign out
I do not have a CC account, even though I once signed up for a trail, but never used it
I have uninstalled Lightroom and deleted all reference in the registry, left the preferences, reinstalled to basic Lightroom 6, but the sign in problem persists
Quote from above link
"You can install your Creative Cloud apps on as many of your personal computers as you want. However, you can only sign in and activate Creative Cloud on two systems at a time. To switch to an alternate computer, simply sign out of one of your two previously activated computers. If you're unable to sign out of the other computers when you sign in, you are asked if you want to deactivate them remotely. You can start using the current system immediately. You can force an activation reset once every 48 hours; therefore, it’s preferable to sign out when possible."
Could be a problem with the dual boot, but Lightroom can be used as a standalone on 2 different computers, right or wrong?
From what I can see Lightroom standalone cannot be used unless you are permanently signed in and have an internet connection.
Even CC is not supposed to work like this, or am I wrong.
Is is very difficult to find a replacement for Lightroom, but I think that I have to start finding one.

Well post has been moved to a rather obscure place, pretty unlikely to get a useful reply
Somewhat Orwellian

MDE if you have already completed the steps listed in How to convert a Lightroom CC trial to Lightroom 6 then what other Adobe software do you currently have installed on the computer?
Also to confirm are you using your registered serial number for Lightroom 6? For information on how to locate your registered serial number on http://www.adobe.com/ see Find your serial number.

Hello
Thanks for your reply, which I was not expecting.
Shall I post the serial number? I use the number that is contained in my adobe account.
I also have Photoshop CS5, which as far as I know does not get up to any 'tricks'

I have logged in to by profile, but cannot find any of my purchase history of Lightroom or Photoshop.
It used to be part of my profile

No MDE please do not post your serial number as this is a public forum. I would recommend registering your Lightroom serial number to your account at http://www.adobe.com/. You can find complete information regarding the registration process at Find your serial number . If you need any assistance with your serial number, or locating your Lightroom purchase, then please contact our support team directly at Contact Customer Care.

Hello
Thanks for your reply.
I have already said that the serial numbers for Lightrooms 4.5 and 6 are listed in my account, as are the serials for Photoshops.
My Lightroom seems to think I have 7 days of some trial left. I enter the serial number, but it does not get stored.
I don't know where it is stored, but it seems not to be in the registry. It could be some part of my hard drive has been rewritten, when I use my Macrium OS restore, if that is where it is stored. It appears that this is some extra bug in the Adobe registration system.
I can run Lightroom if the internet is disconnected, but it needs to be re registered if I Sign Out
When I Sign In I get this
I put in the serial number and Lightroom is usable. I should not need to be permanently signed in to use my legit copy of Lightroom 6
The problem occurs in both Win 7 and Win 10 on a dual boot

Hello
It gets even more strange.
I signed out and then started manage my account in Help.
I signed in with my password.
I looked at 2 stage verification and it was un verified
I asked and got a 6 digit number and entered that. Message was I will always need to sign in with a number sent to my phone
by Adobe..
Got another 6 digit number and next the trial is reset from 7 days to 30 days. This seems to be a trial for CC.
.
I put in the Licence number and now the trail message comes up.
Help shows this
<Removed by Moderator>
Note the "About Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC at the bottom"
The Licence number I put in is not rejected, but CC is not converted to Standalone

MDE I am sorry but it is no longer clear which Adobe software title you are inquiring about. Please contact our support team directly at Contact Customer Care so direct assistance can be provided.
In the future please do not restore your applications but only your documents and settings. It is likely the restoration process is leading to your current licensing difficulties.

Hello
Really not restore my OS, from a backup. Is that Adobe policy?

MDE in general it is better to install applications, rather than attempt to copy from one computer to another, which allows necessary files and permissions to be written. Depending upon the complexity of the application there may even be system entries made.
If you ever need to activate or deactivate your Adobe software then I would recommend bookmarking Activate and deactivate Adobe products which discusses the process.
For your current error it may be resolvable but please do contact our support team directly so that guided assistance can be provided.

Hello
Please confirm this
Does a user of a standalone Licenced, registered and activated Lightroom 6 have to be permanently signed into Adobe .com to use it?
If you do not know the answer, please ask someone?
Just to be clear I am not copying from one computer to another.
I have 2 SEPARATE OSes running on the same computer. This is known as a dual boot
One is Win 7 and the other is Win 10.
Is a dual boot system treated a two computers by Adobe?.
They are complete separate installs.
There is some mix up with Lightroom CC, which i once installed and uninstalled and Lightroom 6, which I have a licence fo
I have never installed Lightroom CC on the Win 10 partition, yet there is still the same mixup.
I have used Lightroom from the start and RAW shooter before that.
If I evaluate a software, I don't rely on it uninstalling completely, but overwrite the whole installation from a backup using Macrium Backup. Adobe software is notorious for leaving its traces even after what can seem a total removal.
I should not need to activate or deactivate anything as I am using the SAME COMPUTER.
Apologies for the CAPS as you don't seem to understand anything I have written and just want pass me off to some one else.
There is some sort of registration bug in operation.

MDE you have provided conflicting information throughout the discussion which is why I recommend contacting our support team directly at Contact Customer Care.
You can install Lightroom 6 on two different computers. When you boot into a different host operating system that is still considered a different computer and will count as an activation. You can find complete information regarding the activation process for Lightroom 6 at Activate and deactivate Adobe products.
If the steps listed in How to convert a Lightroom CC trial to Lightroom 6 do not allow to utilize Lightroom 6 then please remove all installed Adobe creative software. This includes your installation of Photoshop CS5.
Once you have used the Programs and Features control panel to remove all installed Adobe software then download and run the CC Cleaner Tool. The CC Cleaner Tool is available for download at Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems. It should only be run after you have completely removed all Adobe software using the uninstallers.
To reinstall Lightroom 6 and Photoshop CS5 you can download the installation files from the following locations:
Only a complete removal of all Adobe software, and the associated licensing system by the CC Cleaner Tool, will allow you to install the software successfully on the computer where you evaluated the Creative Cloud membership.

From your latest reply I can only conclude that Adobe's CC licencing and activation/deactivation methods are now so complex a standard uninstall is not sufficient, to remove the products from a computer. A user has to in effect, use a virus removal agent to clean a computer of all traces of Adobe products. That is why I use two OSES and backup and restore to achieve the same end, when I evaluate any Adobe software. It also seems that using backup and restore which is really standard in the computing world, can also cause problems with licencing and activation of Adobe products. This why I am looking at other applications to replace Lightroom which is annoying and sad, because it is a very good application.
There is no need to reply

MDE as part of the installation process, for Creative Cloud, an updated Adobe Application Manager is installed. To revert back to the original Adobe Application Manager it is necessary to completely remove any installed Adobe software and reinstall. During the reinstallation process the the proper versions are reinstalled.
I am sorry for the confusion MDE. My primary concern was that we were not making progress in resolving your concern. I am happy to hear that you were able to implement the suggestions in this public forum discussion successfully. If you have any additional questions please do update this discussion.
