I have installed Lightroom CC and wanted to use the new DeHaze feature. Apparently I have to update Lightroom. I went to Creative cloud to do that and get "Update failed". On clicking more info, I get "Download Error: Press retry or contact customer support (49)"
Hello:
I had similar problems on two window PC's.
WIth bits of information from many many posts on the web I have a workable solution.
The solution is for win 10 pro on my Surface Book.
SImilar fixes should work for win 7 and 8.

2 - rename the folder 1.0 to 1.0old.

I cant find the temp folder.
If your install process requires me to turn the firewall off and the antivirus I would say it isn't fit for purpose (I have been in software development for over 30 years).

The Temp folder is located under C:\Users\'Username'\AppData\Local\Temp, where 'Username' is (obviously) your username.
You might need to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" in the Windows Explorer settings to see it.
Error 49 means that the App is not allowed to access a specific file/directory. Have you tried the "Run as Administrator" option?
Best regards,
Maurice

This morning I tried "Run as Administrator" and got the same error. So I rebooted Windows and then ran CC as Administrator (whether this was actually necessary I don't know) and the upgrade went ok. My guess is that some process (probably an Adobe one) held a lock on some of the files in the Temp folder and a reboot cleared it allowing the install to proceed. Personally (aside from the disruption rebooting imposes) this is a far preferable option than recommending users turn off firewalls, antivirus and mess around with hidden system folders on their machines. As a Windows user of over 20 years and a PC/DOS user of 35 years it's also a remedy one expects (albeit less often than in the days of Windows 95). I would suggest you change your advice to ask users to perform a reboot first rather than mess around with potentially dangerous system settings. This may not solve all Error 49 situations but did solve this one. I can now use the Dehaze feature!
One final point: why is it that the CC install downloads an out of date version of Lightroom CC rather than the current version?

4 - allow the Adobe program: creative cloud.exe, acces through windows firewall.
- search "firewall", don't select the one with the advanced options.
- On the left side panel select "allow an App or feature through windows firewall"
- click " change settings".
- Click " allow another app........."
- Click "browse"
goto ( c:/Program files (x86)/Adobe/Adobe Creative Cloud/ACC/creative cloud.exe)
- click "open"
- click "add"
exit firewall, shutdown the pc, restart.
for me the creative cloud succefully updated both Photoshop and Lightroom. The only packages I have.
I Believe this all may have something to do with the express installation of creative cloud. Adobe does not register its software with the firewall.
Hope this helps. You will have to work through it, and may not need the steps prior to the firewall exercise.
I am not on these forms too often. Good luck.
