I bought this in 2011, many laptops ago. I now have need for this (at the time) expensive software, and do have my license key. Talking to 'technical Team' they tell me I can upgrade to a monthy plan, or go away.

Is it possible to use the sw I purchased or is the reality that an outright purchase from back in the 'old days' ! is just not valid. Thanks

For which version of Lightroom do you have a license?

Older versions are not compatible with the latest macOS Catalina, Big Sur or Monterey.  Neither will legacy apps be tested on Win11.

That said, CS5 and CS6 are on life support. But they can still be activated providing you have the following:
1. your original media (disks or downloads) you received at purchase and a way to read them,
2. a legitimate serial number for that version, language and platform (Win/Mac) and if it was an upgrade, a qualifying serial number from an older product,
3. an older operating system that can support legacy 32-bit apps.

NOTE 1 : Creative Suite installers won't work on macOS Sierra, High Sierra or Mojave without terminal workarounds. See the help article below.

Direct Download links:

IMPORTANT!  Follow the Very Important Instructions to the letter or it won't work.

Hope that helps you.

Thank you for the reply.
I am sorry, I have no idea what version it is.
Is there a way of telling from the serial?
This was a download in 2011. I do not have those files no.
When I logged into my Adobe account, it has the serial of my purchae, but no detail as to what it is.

It should also show the version number.

Below is a screenshot from my Adobe account showing my very old Lightroom version 4 from back in 2012.

Do you have a Download button, as shown in the screenshot I posted above?

Which operating system are you using? Mac or Windows? Which version?

If you're on a modern Mac running Catalina or Big Sur then you're out of luck. There's no way to install Lightroom 3 on those operating systems.

Note: you can also download Lightroom 3 from the link below

https://prodesigntools.com/direct-download-links-for-lightroom-3-and-photoshop-elements-8.html

You MUST follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the download will not work.

=========

YIKES!  Unless it's in your Adobe Account, version 3.0 is no longer available.
