LR4 upgrade to LR6 failure -- how to solve?

Yesterday I purchased the $80 upgrade to LR6 from LR4.  I am running Mac OS 10.10.5

I do not have CC, and do not want CC.

I downloaded and opened the dmg from my "products" (?) page on the Adobe www site.

When I open it, I get an "install" icon.

When I hit install, I get an initialization notice, followed by a window that has "install" and "try" options.

I clicked the Install option, with the notice that I am required to sign in.

When I click sign in, I get the message "adobe application manager quit unexpectedly."

When I click the Reopen button, I get the message "Adobe CC is needed to resolve this problem. However, it is missing or damaged. Please download and install a new copy of Adobe Creative Cloud from 'Adobe Creative Cloud'."

I don't understand what CC has to do with this or why the install won't work without crashing.  Again, I do not want CC.

What do I do to fix this and get LR6 installed?

    Good news, fixed and installed.

Fix: Download CC cleaner tool for iOS.  Install and run.  Select "Adobe Application Manager" from presented list, and run.  Reattempt install of LR6, which then worked.

Bad news, what should have been a simple upgrade process took several hours due to poor and confusing communication from Adobe.

    Hi Tm255,

As per the information you have provided, you encountered "Adobe CC is needed to resolve this problem. However, it is missing or damaged.", while installing Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 on your machine.

    Here is your linked solution

Solution 1: Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app, and then reinstall it

Solution 2: Run the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool

I do not have the CC desktop app, so I cannot reinstall it, nor can I run the cleaner tool.

Are you saying that I have to install CC before I can upgrade my LR4 to LR6?  I do not want CC.

Per your question about my OS, please note in my original post ====> Mac OS 10.10.5

    Now what?
