I bought these original disks and serial key... how am I supposed to activate it, seeing the activation server has been removed? I own legitimate software with a legitimate key... What is the go here?

Hi gener7 - I have checked that link already and that link only lists Macromedia Studio MX, which is the product which came out the year before this one I believe... It does not help me activate.

In response to a similar question in another thread, Jeff Wright (Adobe staffer) says version 8 owners will have to install and activate MX 2004 since there are no non-activating version 8 installers anywhere.

Hi John, I looked at that page before as well... I also have a genuine copy and serial of Macromedia Studio MX (I assume it is 2004). But how does that help me to activate Studio 8 though?

It doesn't. You'll have to settle for MX2004 activation since there is no 8 activation.

Okay Adobe, how about setting up the activation server so people in my position can use their paid for and legitimate software and key?

Macromedia went out of business in 2005 shortly after Studio 8 came out.   You can't put toothpaste back in the tube.   There are no activation servers to revive.  Studio 8 reached its EOL in 2008.  You had a very long ride with your product -- way beyond its intended life.

At this point, I would not go back to legacy software.  Too much has changed.  It probably won't work well on a modern computer OS anyway.

Download a 7-day trial to Creative Cloud.  It costs you nothing to try it.
