Move Adobe CC library to an external HD

New Here ,

I am struggling with space on my computer due to the size of my CC Library. When I look on the forums there seems to be conflicting feedback on if it is possible to house the library on an external drive. As many of the responses are rather old (2017ish) I am posting this now to see if there is an update to this issue.

My HD is rather small (only 250GB) and as it is a work asset I do not have the option of updating it currently. My library is taking up over 120GB of that space. This means when I am working on large files, unless I run a very clean machine with very little else saved to it then I get a lot of messages telling me my scratch disks are full. This results in me frantically removing everything from my downloads and desktop to be able to save my file. It really is a massive inconvenience that could be easily remedied if Adobe provided a way to save the library to an external drive. I’m sure I am not the only person suffering from this issue.

Adobe, can I move my existing CC Library to an external HD and change the pathway for new assets to save to? If so how do I dod this?

In the CC desktop app click either the cloud icon or the gear icon in the upper right. If the cloud icon when that next screen opens then click the Gear icon to go to the CC DTA preferences. go to the Syncing tab and you will see "Folder Location". Click the pencil icon to change the location where the synced files are stored.

I suggest you have the external connected and that you FIRST Copy all your synced files over to the folder on the external that you want to use as the storage location (that means you will have to create a folder on the external first). And Then make the change in the CC DTA as described above
