Question

My serial key isn't attached to Adobe ID, how can I find it?

I am trying to install my Adobe product on my new Macbook, and deactivate my current install.  I logged into my Adobe ID, but my serial key isn't linked.  I do not have the disc, because I was under the assumption that when I registered the product it would keep a log of my serial keys.   Customer Care hasn't been any assistance.  I have the confirmation emails from when I registered the product.  Any suggestions?

There are a number of free programs available (for Windows) that can retrieve serial numbers from installed programs.  Maybe there is something similar for the Mac; check Google.

There is not much that can be done outside of seeing if Adobe Support is willing to assist you.  If you registered the software then the serial number could still be available in your account even though you cannot see it.  I know mine still is for CS3 even though it does not appear there.

For the link below click the Still Need Help? option in the blue area at the bottom and choose the chat option...
Make sure you are logged in to the Adobe site, have cookies enabled, clear your cookie cache.  If it fails to connect try using a different browser.

I do not see how getting rid of a disc is justified by registering the installation of it though - when it comes to computer-based data records versus hard copies I'll keep hard copies any day.

    Ned --

Thanks for the feedback -- I have spent quite a bit of time chatting with Adobe Customer Service.  I continuously get the "we can't help you" response.  I don't understand how I can have proof of registration and they still can't give me the serial key.  The last person I spoke with said he couldn't help me till I had the key.  I reminded him that the key was the reason I was requesting customer service.   It seems as if they just want us to spend money on the newest version.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the details, could you confirm if the product was an edu license. If so, could you provide the product code for the software.

I do not have the product code -- I installed the product on my MacBook in March of 2012, and just upgraded to a new MacBookPro --- I wanted to deactivate the product on my old Macbook and activate it on my new Macbook.  I assumed I could do that with my serial number that would be linked to my Adobe ID... It is looking like I assumed wrong.
