Photoshop CS5: Can't start CS Live subscription

I bought a Photoshop CS5 (64bit) for Windows yesterday (yes old but 100% legal) and installed it today.

The actication seemed to work fine and I can use the programm without problems.

However When I try to use "help -> Product Registration" it asked my to enter my Adobe-ID
(I added my CS5 Serial in my Adobe-ID Account before without problems).

However after a short connection attempt I get the error message:

THANKS

-------------

"Could not start your Adobe CS live subscription"

I have no blocking entries in the hosts-file

Deactivated Firewall

No connection problems with the internet

Any ideas what I do wrong? Is it a problem that the Software is not registered?

Does it have to be registered to be fully activated?

Thanks for your help!

It's an educational VLK purchased through our I.S. department. Do you know if that would make any difference? It appears to pass the activation check, but not registration.

if you can use your programs, don't worry about registering.

if you can't use your programs, you need to use the installation files from your school, not the publicly available files.

CS Live was actually discontinued back in 2012... It's nothing that's still applicable or available:

If the message or attempted connections bother you, it may be possible to disable them:

Exactly which Windows operating system version? IF Win10, read below

An idea that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10... works for some, not for others

-RIGHT click the program icon or EXE and select a compatibility mode in the pop up option window

-or Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 to assign FULL Windows permissions may help... says Encore, but sometimes required for ALL Adobe programs (this is NOT the same as using an Administrator account)

NOTE - Win10 anniversary update version 1607 has caused MAJOR problems with old programs, so the above may not work

Thanks for your advice, but it doesn't work. :-(

I will try to use the cleaner tool and reinstall CS5 again.

Do I have to deactivate CS5 first when I deinstall and reinstall on the same Computer?

why are you trying to register?  ie, what's the point?

the last updates are here Product updates

and the only thing else that could happen with cs5 is your serial number may be found to be pirated. ie, read message 1.

it's not a problem as long as you're sure that's not pirated software whose serial number might be revoked later.

you could check that serial number, using a browser that allows popups and cookies, contact adobe support during pst business hours by clicking here and, when available, click 'still need help', https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
