Photoshop CS5 Extended

I installed my purchased disk of cs5 extended about a month ago. I hadn't used photoshop for a while and could't remember all the features. So when I tried to do some of the things I needed to for school, I had a very difficult time. Then I noticed that I had a message that it needed updated. I tried to update it and there are a bunch of things that need updated, but they won' update. These include:

  There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.

I'm supposed to contact customer support, but this seems impossible. As a struggling student, I paid a fortune for this program and am very disappointed that I can't get it updated and there is no human to talk to.

Please advise.
