Photoshop CS6 - Invalid Serial #

Tried to install Photoshop CS6 on Wndows7 PC and got an error "The serial number you entered is invalid. Please try again. If problem persists, contact customer support'.

I called customer service tech support and explained the situation, the guy asked for my serial #, after a few moments (of checking?) he said its an invalid serial # !! Umm. yeah, thats the error I am seeing and the reason I called to get help. But he said he couldn't do anything for me.

Online forums suggest Adobe can sometime issue/re-issue a new serial # if customer provides proof of ownership, pics of product.. I got all that but have no where to go. Now I have a perfectly good product with a serial # thats has gotten bad. Anyone ever in this situation. Is there any help available?
