Photoshop problems in Windows 8.1

My laptop runs Windows 8.1 and until yesterday ran Photoshop successfully. Today I did a factory reset on my laptop but Photoshop won't now download.

I get the message Error :api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing

I have ran all the Windows updates as recommended but this has no effect.

Anybody have any ideas?

David

However Photoshop did work yesterday and when I now try to download it I get a message saying that an earlier version will be installed

You must have been running Photoshop CC 2018 (aka version 19) or earlier, which supported Windows 8.1.

Be aware that support for Windows 8.1 has been dropped in the latest version CC 2019 (aka version 20) released in Oct 2018. That's why the installer is telling you that an earlier version will be installed.

Photoshop system requirements

To install the latest version CC 2019, you now need Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 10 (even some builds of Windows 10 are not supported).

Thanks for response John. However I've now fixed the problem by following a method shown on You Tube and Photoshop is now working ok.

the latest photoshop's not longer support win 8.

that said, you may be able to squeeze a version onto your computer and get it working by updating your vis c++ by googling for the microsoft file.

Thanks for response kglad. However Photoshop did work yesterday and when I now try to download it I get a message saying that an earlier version will be installed. I then get the error message.

Regarding your remedy, unfortunately I'm not very IT savvy so don't understand how to try your suggestion.

Search bar at the top of http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx to find and re-install the C runtime, or for ALL Windows help
