problem installing photoshop cs5 error 6

I tried to install Photoshop CS5 on my mac laptop (it is on my desktop) and I get error 6. I am using EL Captain on both machines. Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks Ned and sorry for the late reply. I have been travelling. The error I get is not "exit code error" but "configuration error 6"  I had Photoshop cs3 and upgraded to CS%. When I try and install the CS3 CD it tells me that it upgraded from PS elements and to enter that serial number but I never had elements.

Guess I will call Adobe once again.
