Good evening recently I bought a new computer to replace the old computer and installed ADOBE ACROBAT 9 PRO, the program worked well for a few months and later it gave me an error and recommended to be uninstall and reinstall again. I uninstalled it and now I am having trouble installing it again as I am getting the following error "Error 1500. Another installation is in progress. You must complete the installation before continuing this one." then I click retry but will not install. Please note that I do not have another installation in progress and have turned on and off the computer several times to see if that will fix the problem,. I also have Adobe Reader 11 installed on this computer and have tried to uninstall it and I cannot uninstall it due to the same error message. I really need to install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I bought this product about 3 to 4 years ago and have used it in the past with no problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Good afternoon Sheena and Brucgovn,

Thank you for both of your responses. I apologize for barely replying but I was not in the office yesterday. I will try your suggestion and will let you know if that clear the problem. I really appreciate your time and help with this.

    Have a great day!

    Brucgovn,

Thank you for your response! The operating system I am using is Windows 10. I have not tried the steps mentioned in the below link as I am concerned of changing Windows registry and messing up my computer as I do not know how to create a back up of the public registry! Any other suggestions that may fix the problem without having to change the Windows registry?

    Thank you for your help

Yep , even I think the same    ,

    You can try below steps:

    Step 1)

Make sure Windows Installer service and Windows Module Installer Service is Started and their Start Up type is set to " Manual."

It has to be set to Manual.

In the Search box type as Services.msc , it will open Windows Services menu.

    Step 2)

Make sure that there are no Windows Installer or Setup tasks running in Task Manager , if present End the same.

    Step 3)

UnReg and Re-Register Windows Installer Service.

Then try to install again .

If you still face same issue , you can proceed with Selective Startup or so called Clean Boot as mentioned in the above post. This is Start up or boot type involves disabling of all services except Microsoft Services which is required to run OS.

Let us know if you face any issue, we will proceed with further troubleshooting.

    Note :

One more thing , deleting InProgress reg key won't do any harm unless if there is any inprogress service running,  however if you take backup you can restore the key by importing backup registry file. but you can try this step as last resort.

As mentioned in the help link , you can also troubleshoot under guidance of Microsoft support , if you have to edit registry just incase.
