Puchase Photoshop Elements 13 from Best Buy and redemption code won't generate serial number

So I buy Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 from Best Buy and follow the instructions in the packaging to get a serial number so I can install the application. I get a oops message that my code is not valid. Kind of strange seeing the package has never been opened before. I guess I purchased a boat anchor from Adobe. I knew I went with the wrong company's product. Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me. Into the trash it goes and I will NEVER purchase another Adobe product again. Adobe sucks!!
