I bought a new desktop and bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 with 3 disks. After installing the first disk it asked me to load the second disk but before I could do that it said the installation was successful. I  put disk 2 in and now it asks for the serial number and when I put that in it says it invalid but it is the correct number.

Do I need to install all three disks and if so how?

That's all you need to do. Disc 2 and Disc 3 are for installing on Win 7 and Mac OS. (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/863/cpsid_86374.html)
