So I had to erase a previous installation of Adobe CC Apps; when I tried to reinstall the apps I always get the "Installer failed to initialize." message.

No matter what method I try or tools I use, I still have no luck.

Currently, I'm running OS X El Capitan 10.11.2, got 8GBs of RAM, nVidia m850 GPU and an i7 for CPU, so it's not a system requirements issue. So far I've tried (With all of these, I get the same message):

  • Using the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool
  • Using the direct link installers
  • Using the Creative Cloud App to download and install
    • Actually, I was able to install the CC Manager App, but it didn't work at all. As soon as I installed it and launched it, it said something like "This version is no longer functional. Please redownload and install", when I literally just installed it. What gives?
  • Erasing all of the Adobe files from my computer, including the /User/ folder contents and the /Libraries/ one
  • Rebooting in between all of these steps

I'm pretty desperate because I need the apps to work and a clean OS install is starting to seem like the only option.

Anyone got a fix?

Hi,

Please try following steps

1) Run creative cloud cleaner tool to remove creative cloud app

2) remove adobe application manager from utilities folder in application library.

3) Install Adobe application manager using following link Adobe - Adobe Application Manager : For Macintosh : Adobe Application Manager

4) launch Adobe application manager and it should update itself to creative cloud desktop app

Thank you very much! Installing the App Manager made the installers work again. Thanks!

I'm having a very similar issue "installer failed to initialize" trying to install a Photoshop CS6 crossgrade to Mac.

When I follow steps 1-4 above, I use the Cloud Cleaner tool to "clean" everything except Lightroom (perpetual license).  Everything works as expected.  However when I launch Application Manager, it starts to update but then fails for A12E1 about 3/4 of the way thru the process.

However I followed the procedure here: Ger Ger: Software Workarounds Adobe and was able to install Creative Cloud.

But when I try to install Photoshop CS6 from the DMG file, it still immediately fails with Installer Failed to Initialize.

I am on macOS Sierra 10.12

Any ideas what's going on here?

Let me answer my own question with hopes that it might help someone else.

The way I got the installer to finally run was by doing the following:

  1. Right clicking on the Install icon in the DMG file
  2. Show Package Contents
  3. Go to Contents> MacOS
  4. Double click on Install
