Raw files are becoming JPEG when imported to Lightroom CC

Hi,

I shoot in RAW only and I removed all my images from my SD card directly into the apple photos app. When importing them to Lightroom from the photos app, all of the images say JPEG on them. I must be doing something wrong, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Well there is your problem right there. Why in the world are you using Apple Photos app? That's where they are getting messed up. They may still actually exist as RAW images in there somewhere, but the path to those files is not very direct. In the future, import your images off of your card either directly into Lightroom, or use Adobe Bridge for your import from the card, then go to Lightroom. Either way will keep them RAW and only send things to the Apple Photos app after you are done processing if you still want to use that as a viewer or something.

I’m a brand new Mac user so I didn’t realize that the apple photos app would cause such an issue. Thanks for your reply!!
