Re: Problem Installing Animate - Error Code 146

New Here ,

I have been right through this link and carried out all the steps on my MacBook Pro. It still produces the same error, and won't install. The Camera Raw CC updated okay.

So, no, it doesn't help.

I have recently upgraded to High Sierra (latest version). Any ideas?

Branching to a new discussion.

Allan_h which Adobe application are you attempting to install when you encounter Error Code 146?  What steps have you implemented to resolve the error?

Yes, AlexCui you are correct manually creating the required directories often resolves this error.  The root cause is due to the installer not being given sufficient permissions to write to the required location.  Details on the process can be found at Resolve Error Code 146 or 147 encountered while installing Adobe Creative Cloud desktop apps. .

Let me know if either of you has any additional questions regarding the process.

Then AlexCui please try the installation in a newly created local administrator account.  You can find details regarding the process of setting up a new account at Install or run Adobe applications in new user account | Mac OS X .

I am trying to update Animate CC 2018, as mentioned above, and I get a similar message to AlexCui, except that my message refers to System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeImporters.component/Adobe Animate CC 2018. It is not possible for me to create this directory, since the pathway refers to a component, not a directory.

I have tried this in a newly-created admin account, I have downloaded the latest Creative Cloud downloader, still the error continues. The message itself is this:

FATAL: Error (Code = 146) executing in command 'MoveDirectoryCommand' for package: 'AdobeAnimate18.0-mul', version:18.0.1.115

FATAL: Error occurred in install of package (Name: AdobeAnimate18.0-mul Version: 18.0.1.115). Error code: '146'

WARN: Failed to move directory '/.adobeTemp/4972F8B6-A2F6-4080-ACCF-FB3A4E94620B/1/mul/AppFiles' to '/System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeImporters.component/Adobe Animate CC 2018'

Please point out any steps I have missed,

Thank you

Allan

Allan in the error you posted the installer is unable to update System/Library/QuickTime.  Please make sure that your administrative accounts have access to this directory.

If you feel that you have proper access to the necessary folders then please review any installed security software that may be preventing the necessary files from being placed into System/Library/QuickTime.
