After accidentally deleting some files, I completed a system restore to my work computer. When I restarted the computer and tried to get into Photoshop CS, I was told "Your computer's configuration appears to have changed since the time this product was activated. To continue using this product, please click OK to activate it again for your new system configuration, or click Cancel to exit."
After clicking OK, I was given the option on the Adobe Activation pop-up to reactive over the Internet (which didn't work because the "activation system is not available at this time.") Next, I tried by telephone via the Automated Software Activation System. This provided me with a phone number, my Serial #, Activation# and Activation Type, and a place to enter in the Authorization Code provided by Adobe (STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED).
I called, entered in all the requested information multiple times and each time they denied my activation and tried to connect me with a Customer Service Represenative. At that point a recording came on saying they no longer help with activation issues over the phone and sent me to a section of the website that was not helpful either. (www.adobe.com/go/activation). This refered me to the "Still need help? Contact US:(" link to the Chat service.
I used the Chat service to ask "Devika" about this issue and received no help. I was told, if I would like a phone number for technical issues, I would have to pay if they resolved my problem. Otherwise, she directed me to search the forums.
USING MY SERIAL NUMBER and ACTIVATION NUMBER, HOW CAN I REACTIVATE PHOTOSHOP AFTER A SYSTEM RESTORE?
you can't reactivate ps cs.
however, adobe allows you to use ps cs2, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.html
