Serial Number on creative Suite 5.5 design standard is not recognized and error 5 code for Indesign and illustrator

I needed to have my Mac operating system reloaded, and can now no longer access Create Suite 5.5 Design Standard after I have installed it.

I am currently on Mac OSX version 10.8.5

When I try to open InDesign or Illustrator I get a message that says 'configuration error 5.' and am advised to contact 'Adobe support' (which I have done and they are no help at all) and when I try to open Adobe Photoshop and enter my product serial number, it says "This serial number is not valid for this product".

Please help?

Thanks in advance.

Once again, I find myself UTTERLY DISGUSTED with the ineptitude of the support staff at Adobe.  For a company that charges hundreds of dollars for their products you'd think they would actually have decent staff able to help with problems with their software… Apparently I'm asking way too much.

My questions still unanswered and the problem from May 13, 2016 STILL not resolved.  You folks need to seriously get it together.

Robert Sheldon (in the Help department) sent me this message:   "Kindly setup skype its free search on google and provide your skype ID so support person will contact you Immediately as a live chat."  I've done that.  No call has come.

I've just wasted another 3 hours, with chat support, with staff (whom I contacted myself when it became obvious the Skype call back was not going to be forthcoming) asking the same questions over and over and don't have any clue what they are doing.  The 'Adobe Application Manager' your staff member Shilpa insisted I download during our chat 'support' (June 11, 2016 : 24:15am EST) has achieved precisely NOTHING and in fact seems to have made matters worse.  Trying to uninstall these programs is now blocked at 2% completed, and frozen and unmoving for the last hour.

Where is the help to get problems resolved in a timely matter.

Adobe, your service is embarrassingly poor.

    Unimpressed is an understatement.

I'm sorry I haven't got a clue what these links are pertaining to… They don't look related to my question at all.

Okay, I printed out the pages of suggestions and went through them step by step. Tried to reload CS5.5 again. Sadly none of these suggestions worked.

Thoroughly fed up, having wasted HOURS of time yesterday and again today, I decided to try something completely different - I installed the CS6 Design Standard upgrade I had.

I have now successfully got Photoshop loaded and working, but still unable to open either InDesign or illustrator.

Both come up with the following message:

    Configuration Error.

Please uninstall and reinstall the product.

If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

    Error 5

    http://www.adobe.com/support

This is the same exact message I have now been getting on both Ai CS5.1 AND Ai CS6, and Id CS5.5 AND Id CS6.

I spent hours discussing it with Adobe support yesterday and then they finally told me they didn't have the expertise and I would need to ask in this forum.

What on earth is going on??

    Please advise. Thanks.
