Some, but not all, programs in CS6 Master Collection no longer open, prompt the Adobe Application Manager

Here is my problem. I bought the CS 6 Master Collection when it was released. All was well until the last few months when some, but not all, of the programs will no longer open. When I launch CS 6 Illustrator, the Creative Cloud Adobe Application Manager opens. I am told to Renew your subscription. When I go Subscription Manager, I am told I have a Creative Cloud free membership. Adobe chat agents have told me that my Creative Cloud membership is good.

What is strange, but I am grateful for, is that that other programs, such as CS6 Photoshop and CS6 Dreamweaver, open fine, without the detour to the dead end of the Adobe Application Manager.

Through four chat sessions, I have had been directed to take a variety of steps, none of which have worked. The most thorough was a uninstall of the entire CS6 Master Collection, running an Adobe cleanup tool, and then a complete reinstall. This took a while, but left me in the same place: the Adobe Application Manager opens for CS 6 Illustrator, but CS 6 Dreamweaver and CS 6 Photoshop open fine.

After the several tries, I have kinda lost a bit of confidence in the chat agents for Adobe. Anyone have a solution for this?

Hi,

I have checked with your Adobe ID here on forums, there was a Creative Cloud subscription which is now closed it was ended back in August 2014.

The uninstall of CS6 will not help you'll have to remove Creative Cloud completely from your machine first.

After that install CS6 again from - Download Creative Suite 6 applications

Please follow the below steps;

MAC :

1- Force Quit all Adobe related processes from Activity Monitor (eg- Creative Cloud, Core sync, CC library, Adobe Desktop Services, Adobe

Thank you, Bani, for a solid response.

One of the chat agents had me do some, but not all, of what you recommended. The items in the first two steps were not on my iMac.

I installed a fresh CS6 Illustrator. When I gave it a try, the Adobe Application Manager opened again.

But then, tell me if this sounds correct.

It offered me a trial. And the trial would run for 3,400-plus days.

I had to go through two rounds of accepting the 3,400-plus day trial. But once I did, CS 6 Illustrator opened.

Weeping ensued.

Sounds like this is the fix. I thank you

Hi Bani:

I do not believe I am running a trial. Here is why. A few days ago, after I first ran through the steps you recommended, when I opened the first program in the CS 6 Master Collection, I was prompted to enter my license key for the master collection. I did and the program continued to open.

This morning, after I saw your new comment, I checked again. And strangely, when I opened the first program, I was again asked to enter the license number for the CS6 Master Collection. When I did that, the program opened fine. I checked other programs, and they all opened as expected. In addition, on all of them, I checked under the Help menu, and "Deactivate" was on of the options. So I am hoping all is well. I will keep checking the next couple of days.

Thanks again for your help.

Tim
