It's been many years since I left Graphic Design and jumped to the field of Critical-Care Nursing, but I still occasionally bust out my old Illustrator files and draw...

 

Just wanted to THANK Adobe for honoring my original CS4 purchase and assisting me with installing legacy software onto a new Mac. Your customer support and resolution for installation problems was top notch. I don't feel people say thank you enough when things go right - THANK YOU AGAIN Adobe.

AFAIK, pre-CS5 software cannot be activated on another machine.  The aged-out activation servers were scrapped several years ago.  When the trial ends, the software quits working.

 

This is from the official Adobe website:

CS2, CS3, CS4, or Acrobat 7, 8, 9, Acrobat X, Acrobat XI, AND 3D

Our aging activation servers for earlier versions of Acrobat and Creative Suite (CS) applications had to be retired. You won't be able to activate these apps, as these activation servers are no longer available.

My software email was from Adobe support. Adobe upgraded me the CS6 Master Suite (from my original CS4 purchase.). My serial number and account match my online product registration.

wow, that's amazing, if true, and i can't think of any reason it would be a scammer and not adobe.

 

but be wary if there are future contacts. ie, don't give any financial info.

Yeah, a bit too amazing if you ask me. Color me skeptical. 

 

This doesn't sound like what genuine Adobe agents do UNLESS the OP had previously purchased a CS6 upgrade when it was still being sold (pre-2017).

Did you purchase CS6 prior to 2017? 

 

I ask because Adobe hasn't sold Creative Suite to anyone since 2017 when they discontinued it.  But there sure are a lot of fake copies floating around on the dark web.

Your advice is definitely worthy of taking note. I see people selling DVDs of CS on eBay, but they don't mention you can't activate the software even though everything is original.

 

I had only Purchased CS4 in 2010 just as I was leaving Graphic Design.

 

My download link was provided by Adobe Customer Support. The Link worked, the Serial Number Works and all of the CS6 Applications work.  I know this sounds pretty unbelieveable because I was fully prepared to migrate to Affinity when they told me the activation servers were decomissioned - then customer service sent me the email.

 

That was the reason for my orignial post - I really couldn't believe it, so I wanted to thank Adobe. For what I do now, my 2018 Mac mini with dedicated to MacOS Mojave, CS6 should last me long time.

 

Sometimes a giant software company does good things for little, random customers - I am grateful and I feel pretty darn lucky.
