I am switching over to CC on my iMac and wish to move the CS6 currently installed on it to my Macbook just as a back up, and to not lose that software completly. As I am aware that once I move to Catalina also on the iMac then CS6 won't work properly. However, the CS6 that I have was got for me by a previous employer so I don't have original disks. Does anyone know how I can move the software over the the laptop? Thanks 🙂

You can't copy/move programs, you must do a fresh install

You don't own the software, that employer owns the software

CS5 and CS6 are on life support. But they can still be activated providing you OWN the following:
1. your original media (installation disks & optical reader or direct downloads) you received at purchase,
2. a legitimate serial number for that version, language and platform (Win/Mac) and if it was an upgrade, a qualifying serial number from an older product,
3. an older operating system that can support legacy 32-bit apps.

NOTE: Creative Suite installers won't work on macOS Sierra, High Sierra or Mojave without terminal workarounds. See the help article below for details.

Failing any of the above, you'll need to get new software.  Creative Suite is no longer sold legally by any vendor, retailer or in any country.

Thank you all! I understand, I have CS5 on an old laptop too so I won't be completly stuck. I have updated my iMac to Catalina and I'll move over to CC now soon. How do I remove the old CS6 from the iMac now? as the uninstall app won't work? also I had installed a trial of CC in 2014, should I also uninstall that and just start afresh? Thanks!
