Transfer licence Illustrator

Hello, I have purchased CS3 Illustrator from another user via Ebay.  They have stated that the software is registered to them and has a serial number.  I have said that a transfer of licence needs to take place and the details are here:

Highlighting the following points:

  • You must initiate the product transfer as the current owner of the product license.  The receiver of the license (transferee) cannot initiate this process.
  • You must provide a copy of your photo ID with your signature.
  • You must provide proof of purchase (if you didn't purchase directly from Adobe) and order number for your Adobe product.
  • The product serial number must be registered in your Adobe profile to transfer the license.

I understand they then have to

Contact Adobe Customer Service to obtain a case number.  Have your photo ID and proof of purchase (if you didn't purchase directly from Adobe) available when you call.

The current owner has stated that they don't have a receipt for proof of purchase but they have phoned Adobe this morning.

Can anyone tell me what the situation is regarding transfer in this case?
