Trouble installing CS2 and CS5.5 upgrade on Windows 10

I have a new Windows 10 computer.  I was trying to re-install CS2 and CS5.5 upgrade.  I went on Adobe chat and although they were not very helpful, the "expert" assured me that the CS5.5 version would work on Windows 10.  I asked him if I installed CS2 and then the upgrade, would it work?  He didn't seem all that sure, but he said it would.  So know, two hours later, I'm still trying to get past CD #2 of the CS2 original program discs so I can do the upgrade.  I'm not sure, but it seems to be stuck as it hasn't progressed for well over an hour. How can I get past this?  I am using the serial number listed on the website, not my original serial number.  Can I just install CS5.5 from the website, if my CS5.5 CD is only the upgrade and not the complete program?

You're wasting your time installing CS2 prior to CS5.5. It's a completely unnecessary step. Uninstall CS2 and start again.

With Adobe software, every version (full and upgrade) you install is the complete version. The difference between the full and upgrade version is wholly in the serial number. The full version serial number is enough in and of itself. That makes reinstalling easy at a later date. The upgrade serial number always needs an earlier version serial number to be entered to verify that you're entitled to use the upgrade (cheaper) version.

So, install CS5.5, enter your upgrade serial number then enter the CS2 serial number when prompted.

You can simply install CS 5.5 alone.

CS 2 serial number will not work as there is no activation server available now , you will need to unlock CS 5.5 upgrade serial number.

To Unlock serial number , you will need to contact Adobe Support as mentioned in below Help Doc ( Solution # 4)
