Trouble registering CS3 on new computer

I have installed Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium on my Macbook air. I had to do it digitally as my computer does not have a disk drive. The copy I have is a student license from when I was in college. I installed the program easily, but I can't get the product to register. I have input the serial number but after requesting to register it I get the message that there is a connection failure and it was "not able to connect to adobe to register". I have checked every item on the trouble shooting page and everything checks out. Does anyone know what the problem is?

You only register software once - it is simply the act of letting Adobe know that you own the license for the software.  You can usually reinstall and reactivate multiple times, but you only register it once.  If you are having a problem with activation then what is the detailed error message you see.

Usually when you run a trial it will indicate that when you open the program, identifying how many days you have left for the trial.

I understand what you are saying. Since I registered it already then I shouldn't have to do it again. I guess now I'm not sure if my serial number was accepted or if I'm currently running the trial version. Is there a way to check? Or would it be obvious that it's a trial when I open the application?
