trying to activate this product and having no luck. online activation is not available and the phone activation is no longer. how do I activate my product?
Gotcha. The "disc 2" files in the non-activating version of CS2 can end up in the wrong place. To fix this, copy the contents of the C:\Creative Suite\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0 folder to C:\Creative Suite 2.0\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0, and then reinstall. Info is available under the "Problems" subheading in the CS2 help doc: Error: "Activation Server Unavailable" | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3.

What version of Creative Suite are you trying to activate? Are you getting a specific error message? You may want to look over the suggestions in this help document to see if any apply to your situation: Troubleshoot Adobe activation and deactivation issues and error messages. If not, letting us know some more information will help us better troubleshoot the issue.
If your Creative Suite is CS2 or earlier, please be aware that the activation servers have been disabled. However, Adobe has made available a special version of the software to affected customers. To install, follow the instructions on this page: Error: "Activation Server Unavailable" | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3. Be aware that CS2 is more than a decade old and may not run on newer operating systems.

Hi
It's an education version I purchased way back in 1997. I think cs2?
Have just purchased a laptop after that specifically will suit this
software however I can't activate. I get the server error message. I will
be so upset if I can't use this software because it was very expensive at
the time of purchase

As explained in the previous post, you cannot use your Education version of CS2. It will never activate because Adobe closed the activation server several years ago.
Uninstall it.
However, provided you are not on a Mac, you CAN still use CS2 on Windows if you follow the steps below.
Download the special non-activation version of CS2 from Adobe
Error: "Activation Server Unavailable" | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Install then enter the special. non-activation serial number provided at the link above. Your existing serial number will no longer work.

Ok thank you
I have downloaded that but now it is asking for a serial number to continue
installation and it is not accepting the serial number from my software cd
box? Where do I find the serial no. It is asking for?

Refer to my post above and the link provided.
The serial number is right next to the link you used to download the software.

Adobe no longer supports CS2 in any way... not by phone or chat
Do you have someone with more computer experience who can visit you to help?
It is really very simple... you click the link that was provided... if you were able to do that, to download the special version, you will have also been able to see the special serial number for the product you downloaded

Hi Christiner,
What is your computer operating system? Knowing whether you are on Windows or Mac and which version will help us better troubleshoot the issue.

that would take my version creative suite because I took it into the shop

I don't use Windows, so I'm not the best one to give detailed step-by-step instructions for non-activating CS2. However, another community member wrote a start-to-finish how-to in this old thread: Re: Free version of CS2 - unable to install - please insert CD 2. They are copy pasta'd below. Again, I haven't tried this procedure myself, but you may find the instructions helpful particularly if moving the files per my instructions in the previous paragraph seems confusing.
First uninstall your regular CS2 or run an unistaller like Revo Uninstaller it is free, select everything Adobe it drags up and then follow this procedure!
1. Right-click each file (.exe file)
2. Select Properties then go to the Compatibility tab.
3. Put a check on the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” then select the previous OS which do you think it worked. For your case select Windows XP with Service Pack 3
4. Then under Privilege Level, place a check on “Run this program as administrator”
5. Click Apply then OK.
ignore disk 1 (we will come back to this)
Click disk 2 - but change the Save Files in folder destination to
C:\Creative Suite CS2\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\
be default it goes to the wrong folder of C:\Creative Suite\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\ - This later brings up an error of insert disk 2.
If it says Unable to create the specified output folder! - just click OK
Click Next
---------------------
Click Disk 3 - making sure the address is C:\Creative Suite CS2
Click Next
--------------
Install the Extra Files if you want to
--------------
Now Click Disk 1 - Destination folder - C:\Creative Suite CS2
Ignore Quicktime 6 message
Accept Agreement
Enter Serial - 1130-1414-7569-4457-6613-5551
Now you need to change the location as C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe is not valid
change it to C:\Progra~2\Adobe
If the next button stays greyed out, click back then go forward with the next button. All should now be good
Install the entire suite or just the components you require.
Select Do not Register on drop down on the registration page
It works, I have done it and it works fine on Windows 7

Thanks for your patience and advice.
I followed the new step religiously three times this morning but it keeps
telling me to insert cd 2 on installation
I guess I will get a computer guy to come and help me with this. I did a
years full time graphics course when I purchased this suite. The time and
effort to learn it was huge so I will try other avenues. Thx again for your
patience and help, it is appreciated.

hi again,
you gave me some very helpful advice re downloading my cs software last
weekend, but I just couldn't get it to activate.
I sought help from a computer technician who came to my home today. I
showed him the notes you had kindly pointed me to.
he came up with the same error message as me, and just need to get that
step further, changing rules, authorities etc. something more technical
for us non techo folk. He assured me I had done everything correctly up
till that last technical step.
so I just wanted to tell you I am so delighted to have "mission
accomplished" and thought you may like to hear your patience and advice
paid off. the creative suite is loaded on my new laptop and I am
delighted.
thanks again,
Christine
