unable to activate adobe acrobat 8 on win 7 or win 8 online or by telephone. error code 159.41

i am able to use adobe acrobat 8 on win 7 and win 8 but cannot activate the software on the internet  (error code 159.41) or by phone ('we no longer provide telephone support for this product'). has anyone found a fix for this? i'm getting a message that software will stop working in 30 days if not activated.

    acrobat 7 activation servers are no longer supported, but acrobat 8 servers are still working.  if you meant acrobat 7, go here:  Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3

    if you really meant acrobat 8, it was not designed for win7 or win 8, so you might try uninstalling, cleaning and reinstalling using compatibility mode, Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
