The Adobe Cloud login appears not to be working. When I enter login details (which are correct as I can login via the web) I get immediately kicked out again, saying its unable to authenticate Adobe Id. Is there a problem?

If you are using mac.
Close all the Adobe applications > Open Activity Monitor > Close all the adobe background process ( Adobe CEF Help , CC Library, Core sync any process with icon of creative cloud and name of Adobe) > Click on blank screen of Mac > Go ( at top of the screen) > Go to folder > type: /library/application support/Adobe >
Look for folder name: OOBE > Either rename or delete this folder.
Launch Creative Cloud desktop application and sign in.
If you are on Windows:
You can find the same OOBE folder at two Location.
1.) C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
2.) Use Run Command( Win logo key + R) > Appdata > Local > Adobe
Rename or delete them from there.
