Upgrading LR4.1 to LR4.4

I have LR4 which is sufficient for my purposes.  My old PC died and when I install 4.1 on my new computer it asks me if I would like to update to 4.4. However none of the links work.

Tech support sent me to http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/lightroom/win/4.x/Lightroom_4_LS11_win_4_4_1.exe?red=a which does not work.  Nor is version 4 on the legacy download page at Download legacy versions of Creative Cloud apps

The technical support chat suggest I would get a better result asking this forum. So, any thoughts?

Thanks.  Case support updated with serial number. Neither edge nor chrome with cleared cookies worked, unfortunately.

Matrixbjj, thanks for sending me the private message with your serial number.  I can confirm that the serial number you provided is a valid multi-platform license for Lightroom 4.0.

To continue, I would recommend you use a different computer, smartphone, or tablet to register your serial number using the process listed in Find your serial number .  Once registered, you will need to contact our support team for a download link since the software you purchased was provided on a DVD.  I would recommend beginning a new interaction so that you do not need to wait for case ADB-8049320-K7N0 to be reviewed to be provided a download link for Lightroom 4.4.

Since you have had problems updating the support case, and registering the Lightroom serial number, then it would appear that the current computer you are using is blocking you from completing these tasks.  If this is your new computer, then I would recommend reviewing any installed software that may be affecting your web browsing experience, so you do not face future difficulties.

I was able to connect with customer care chat, and they registered my version of Lightroom. They also provided a link for the 4.4 download, which was unfortunately not functioning (404 not found).

When I indicated that the link did not work, I got this response, which is pretty disappointing on a number of levels "Let me inform you that certain older versions of CS, LR apps are now unauthorized for all Adobe customers to use, redistribute or package. Adobe will no longer make these available due to a third-party copyright dispute. So you wont be able to upgrade or update the product". They then redirected me to sales to "assist you with Lightroom Classic pricing."

Jeff, I appreciate your helpfulness and rapid responses on this thread.  Is there anything else to be done, or is the customer care chat response the last word on upgrading an older version of Lightroom?


Matrixbjj, I am sorry, but I don't have access to the download links, so I am unable to validate your current experience.  Support for older perpetual products is limited to providing the downloads themselves or resolving licensing concerns.

Your best option may be to use the copy of Lightroom that you have on CD until you decide on a current solution for managing and editing your photos.

Matrixbjj, I reviewed the account you used to post to this public discussion forum, and I did not find Lightroom 4, or any other Adobe software registered under your account.

To obtain the installation files for Lightroom 4, you will need to register your software and then contact our support team directly to request a download link.  You can use the process listed in Find your serial number to register your copy of Lightroom 4.

Once registered I would recommend you use the process listed in View Adobe Support cases to update your existing support case ADB-8049320-K7N0 that the software has been registered and you would like to receive a download link for Lightroom 4.

Hi Jeff - Thanks for your response. I have my serial number from the original product packaging and have tried several times to register my copy of lightroom 4.  Every time I enter the 24-digit code (either with or without the hyphens) I get the message "an error appeared while registering your product".  There is no link or additional explanation provided.

Any suggestions with respect to next steps would be much appreciated.

Matrixbjj, have you tried using an alternate web browser to complete the registration process?  If so, then also try clearing your cookies.  If the problem persists then please update support case ADB-8049320-K7N0 with your serial number.

I don't think you can download LR 4 any more. I haven't found it anywhere.
