Using two computers simultaneously

I understand that the Creative Suite Master Collection can be installed on two computers, and that the same program can't be used simultaneously on both computers.  But does that mean that an individual program in the suite can't be used on both computers at the same time?  Or that none of the programs in the suite can be used on the second computer if the first computer is using any of the programs?

And while I have your attention: What is the mechanism that prevents the use of the same program on two computers?

Hamlin you have one license to run the software.  You can install the software on up to two computers and then use your license to run the software on one of those computers.  You can find more details in the End User License Agreement at http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/.

Activation servers will be notified when you launch your application on any of your two computers. However, it is not true that you cannot run the same application on two computers at the same time. Both of your computers have different hardware ids. Hence, licensing model will detect and count your license to be used on 2 computers (which is legally allowed) when you work simultaneously on two computers, no matter same apps, no matter different Adobe apps.

OK, that makes sense.  But when you say "activation servers will be notified," you seem to suggest that one has to be online to use Adobe apps.  I just disabled my DSL connection and Photoshop seemed to work anyway.  What don't I understand?
