Why you are not able to get the New June 20th, 2016 updates on your Creative Cloud if you are running Windows 7.
So I spent all day on this because Adobe did not put it anywhere that I could find it. But I am hoping to save a few of you a lot of wasted time.....you can't update to the newest version of the apps if you do not have all the updates to Windows 7.
If you are like me and do not want anything to do with Windows updates....you may run into the same problem. I was/am not at all interested in Windows 10 (which they are sneaking into regular updates) so I usually do not have the updates enabled. If you do not....you can't upgrade your programs to the newest version. Creative Cloud will not even give you the option.
I think it is the Microsoft Visual C++ or something like that that needs updating to run the latest software....if you do not have it on your system you are not installing the new updates properly.

Ivans57562126 you are correct that you will need to have the current installation of Visual C++ 2015 runtimes from Microsoft on your computer to utilize the new updates. You can find details on how to install the updates for Windows Vista, Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2 at Error :api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing..
Individuals with Windows 10 installed already have the Visual C++ 2015 runtimes installed

Individuals with Windows 10 installed already have the Visual C++ 2015 runtimes installed so no update is required.
The Visual C++ runtimes are a common framework which is utilized by many applications. They are provided and maintained by Microsoft.

Hi Jeff,
I am running windows 7 on 2 computers. I downloaded the Visual C++ update and on one computer it installed fine (so did Illustrator 2015.3) but on the other computer I tried to install the C++ update but it says "this update is not applicable to your computer". Illustrator still installs but won't open and comes up with the missing dll error?
Any idea what's going on?

Ms Signage I am sorry you facing difficulties installing Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable. I would recommend verifying that Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable is indeed installed on your computer. If it is not listed under Programs and Features control panel then I would recommend seeing if there is any applicable error message which is preventing the installation.
If you continue to face errors or are unable to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable then please check with Microsoft for any additional solutions.

Hi Jeff,
Turns out the one computer that wouldn't install the C++ update didn't have Service pack 1. For some reason, we didn't install it on both computer at the same time. So then I Uninstalled then reinstalled Illustrator again the rebooted the computer and now it works.

Excellent thanks for the update Ms Signage!
You may want to also see if there is an opportunity to provide feedback to Microsoft. A lack of an error as to why Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable does not install would certainly lead to frustration.
