You resurected a 6 year old topic about an even older product from 2012.

The bigger question is why are you clinging to 10+ year old software when you don't have to?  🙄

Creative Cloud Photography Plan ($10/month for 12 months). Includes the following:

  • Photoshop CC and Photoshop on iPad,
  • Camera Raw,
  • Lightroom on desktop, mobile and the web,
  • Lightroom Classic (similar to LR6),
  • Portfolio website + hosting,
  • Adobe Express (free starter plan),
  • Bridge,
  • 20 GB cloud storage (upgradable to 1 TB).

I think, simply put, because many of us don't want to be tied to an ongoing subscription model.  I know it may sound counter-intuitive to YOU... but I'm about to give another company $300 to replace the aging Lightroom 6.   (Not mentioning the company, since I don't know if that's allowed; and I'm also not trying to convince anyone else to switch (or stay... just explaining my position.))

If subscription model works for you, then great.  It is a good package of software for the price, if you use it all regularly; understood.    Please realize, that it is not for everyone.     In the perpetual license days I was happy to pay for the upgrades too... it was understood in those days that new features had a cost (upgrading.)    But having used Lightroom since the early public betas,  it was nice the one or two times that budgets were tight that I could skip an upgrade and retain full functionality of the software.

I just know they are not getting MY money anymore.  I know that means very little to anyone at Adobe.... I also know that other companies are also in business to make a profit.   But I'll support the ones that at least are willing to PRETEND to be customer focused.

Thanks to whoever first posted the above links to the last LR6 version (kglad, I think); I was able to grab and archive it before end of 2023. (I'll probably copy it to my Google Drive and DropBox as well my regular backup of LR catalog & images.)

Personally I'll probably keep LR6 around for awhile -- but right now my plan is to eventually:

  • Use LR6 to render any images that have edits applied --- to be sure I have a 'final' version of any edited images.
  • At that point, make a special backup (in addition to my normal backups) of my entire image library folder structure & LR catalog & Installer for safe keeping.
  • From then on, use alternative RAW editors / Image organizers in my workflow.

Regards,

David

As a matter of fact, when I tried to open the latest version of Lightroom I was told that the version 6 could not be found, even though I had used one of the links provided above to download the latest version. It is with great pleasure that I once again extend my sincere thanks to you.

My experience was that I utilized one of the connections gave above to download the most recent variant of Lightroom, yet when I attempted to open it, there was not a single form 6 in sight. If it's not too much trouble, acknowledge my earnest thanks indeed.

"the most recent variant of Lightroom" is Lightroom v6.5 that is Cloud based and only available by subscription to the Adobe Lightroom Plan 1TB (or the Photograpahy Plan 20GB)

Compare plans | Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan

The old 'perpetual' version of Lightroom that was released in 2015 was at Version 6, and the last upgrade was v6.14. No longer supported by Adobe in any way. And as stated in above posts- v6.14 (of the 2015 app) can only be downloaded for a limited time from this lnk-
