Where to download Photoshop for Windows 8.1?

Looks like the newest version of CC only works on Windows 7 and Windows 10 and is not compatible with Windows 8.1 for some reason. I'm temporarily working on an old laptop running Windows 8.1 and can't easily upgrade. I have a CC subscription and keys for Photoshop going back to version 3.

Can anybody share a link to download an older version of Photoshop compatible with Windows 8.1?

Correct answer Nancy OShea

Upgrade to Windows 10 (64 bit only).  See system requirements for Creative Cloud desktop app + Photoshop CC.

NOTE:  Adobe ended support for WIN8 AND 8.1 in Jaunuary of 2018.

Without a supported operating system, your son cannot use latest versions of Creative Cloud desktop app or Photoshop, etc...

Pre-2019 versions are no longer offered from the Creative Cloud desktop app.  I know of no way to obtain them unless you're a TEAMS/ENTERPRISE account holder in which case you must special request them from your IT dept admin.

It says here photoshop cc 2019 is compatible with windows 8.1

My mistake photoshop version 19.0 aka photoshop cc 2018 is what you want.

You can download the photoshop cc 2018 installer from here:

The newest version of photoshop is photoshop 2020 (photoshop version 21.0) which is not compatible with windows 8.1

Although CC 2019 is actually version 20.x which, according to Adobe, is only compatible with Windows 7 and 10.

Version 19.x is CC 2018 which is the version I suspect Sarah is running on Win 8.1.

Adobe's System Requirements muddies the waters by referring to Photoshop CC 19.x.

Looks like the links on John's page have been removed; they just take you to a general help page now.

I tried Nancy's trick of requesting an agent through the chat bot, and after a bit of a wait, some confusion and runaround they sent me a link for a direct download of Photoshop CC19 which installs and runs on Windows 8.1. Seems exactly the same as what I use on Windows 10. This will probably expire soon but here it is:

I'm not sure why their official download page says "Not Compatible" when this version is perfectly compatible. My guess is it's something to do with DRM...?

Thanks for your help!

Sarah, It's not even opening anymore.

And to be honest, It's so unfair for windows 8 and 8.1 users like myself.

Why can't they just make a version for windows 8 and 8.1 only?

Due to Adobe's policy change on what is available, I don't know if this link still works
