Why do I get: “Install” is damaged and can’t be opened, with Photoshop CS5 download

Hi

I am installing Photoshop CS5 on a mac book air.

I downloaded Photoshop_12_LS1.dmg from Download Adobe Creative Suite 5 products.‌ I can mount the DMG but executing the resultant 'install' application causes OS X El Capitan to complain that "Install" is damaged and can't be opened.  The help for this error message suggests that the file has been tampered with.  Apparently this can be by-passed by allowing the Mac to install un-signed code, but presumably I shouldn't need to do this for Adobe software.

How should I proceed?

Hi Jason,

CS5 is very old, has not been tested by Adobe on 'El Capitan' and probably won't run on it without any issues.

You could try out the "run un-signed code" thing, though... at your own risk.

I think this is probably just due to the code signing certificates having expired as the package was produced so long ago.

Temporarily setting:

System Preferences - General

Allow apps downloaded from = Anywhere

As someone else suggested works around this. You must set it back to something safe afterwards.

At first glance it looks like it runs okay.
