do you have another version of acrobat installed?

if so, (and it's not part of a creative suite), run the cleaner, http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

restart your computer

and then log into https://creative.adobe.com/ and restart your download of acrobat xi.

if not, log into https://creative.adobe.com/ and restart your download of acrobat xi.
