Will CS2 work under Windows 8?

I have  CS2 disc to install. I used this on my new 64 bit windows 8 PC. That is when the problem started, it would not install. Called online chat & they told me 'its old and no longer supported'. I accepted that. They then gave me a link to download CS2 which I did. I also got a new activation code. Now when I try to install I get this error at Installation location window.

It selects for me this " C:\Program Files(x86)\adobe " as the location

Click on 'Next'

then this error comes up

The Path you have selected for installation contains unsupported characters. Please chose a different folder for installation.

What do I do?? Customer support will not help at all  - I thought that this should be where CS2 should be as it is a 32 bit working under a 64 bit machine.

Can any one assist? please - I am stuck can not afford upgrade to current version and CS2 does everything I need.

Thanks

Hi  edmorgan@netcomuk.co.uk,

CS2 is not compatible with Windows 8.

Please consider purchasing the latest software CS6 / Creative Cloud Subscription.

great - another few hundred pounds I'll have to spend..... thanks adobe... more profit for you... but here is another question what about cs4? is that compatible with windows 8  as I have a web standard version, what ever that means but I dont have photoshop for CS4 as I got it for the web desing ...and there no chance of using your cloud thingy 'cos I aint spending $50  a month !!!!

can anyone suggest what I should do - I have my original Photoshop 6, then I purchased CS2, following that I got CS4  Web standard as I was doing a Dreamweaver course and the CS4 came as part of the course but with no photoshop. Now I use adobe bridge and photoshop extensively, these are the 2 I realy want and with Cs2 it worked great as it upgraded Photo 6 to cs2 and I got Bridge NOW I GOT NOTHING !!!! how frustrating

Hi edmorgan@netcomuk.co.uk,,

CS4 software has alos not been tested on Windows 8 but you are free to try to install and check if it works for you or not.

Adobe though doesn't recommend this as it's not been tested on this platform.
