When I insert disc 3 to install it just makes some odd noises and spits the disc out!

Perversly Disc 1 for Windows it reads...

Disc 3 does contain the Macintosh installer for Photoshop Elements 10.  Have you tried seeing if the disc can be read on any other computers?  You might also want to look at the disc to see if it has any scratches or smudges on it.

I was going to try to find another local Mac user but on a mountain in

Spain there aren't that many people to call on!

The disc is brand new and straight out of the box so no scratches etc.

I think I may be sending the discs back...

You can also download the trial of Photoshop Elements and enter your serial number.  You can find the trial for Photoshop Elements at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_elements&loc=en_us.  If this trial does not accept your serial number then you may need to select the Photoshop Elements trial for your region.
