Hi

I've just installed 3 Windows Apps (WhatsApp, Instagram and a game) to check whether my Surface Pro will install other apps.

All of them work perfectly, so I checked the properties as indicated in the Error code 183 article and where it says type "Everyone" the other apps use SYSTEM.

So I tried tying in SYSTEM with the installation of XD, but it failed with Error code 183 exactly the same as before.

I see from SdM's message that I am not the only one with the problem, so should I also Contact Customer Care?

I am really sorry to hear about the encountered problem. We identified it as being related to some older versions of MS Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable which might be present on some machines. We implemented a fix around it and it is already publicly available starting today with the latest version of XD, namely version 21.1. The update is available through the Creative Cloud application.

As a note, the fix addresses the specific case of error 183 during installation caused by the failure to run "PluginCleanup.exe" (which is the exact one mentioned in this thread).

Thanks for the info

I made all the alterations in the article and it still won't install - gives the same code 183.

I don't understand all the ins and outs of the programming but I do expect an industry standard program like Adobe XD to install without the customer having to make modifications to Windows files, etc.

So I'm still stuck paying for a program I can't install.
