Any idea on how to keep Photoshop in my classroom?

Hi there! I am an Art and technology teacher from a small school in rural Canada. I am also an Adobe subscriber and adobe user for over 20 years. I love the program and how it has enhanced my art, work and life. I have been teaching the use of Photoshop in my classroom for multiple years now. The work the students have created has been absolutely mind blowing. From digital paintings to the creation of Books, clothing and layouts for senior art projects, Adobe has been a big part of my students growth artistically and technologically. Which brings me to the point of this post.

We have recently been hit by a significant budget cut throughout our province. With that, some "extras" need to be trimmed. Unfortunately our Photoshop license is one of those cuts. I have looked into re-licencing and the small school that I am at does not have the funds to continue at over $200 a computer per year. We are a school of only 140 students and have roughly 70 computers in the school. I was wondering if there is any other plan or options that could help our small community out? Our town is small (1400pop) but they are amazingly supportive however the hard working families in this community have also been effected by the provincial cuts so I hesitate to ask them.

I am sorry for the "wall of text" but my heart is always firmly stitched to my sleeve and I have been so impressed with Photoshop and the creativity my students have expressed through it, that the thought of losing it breaks my heart.

If this is not the place to direct this please send me a message with information on where to go to be heard.

Thank you so much.

From a passionate educator and Photoshop lover!

I don't know the price in Canada, but the special Photography plan is $9.99 a month in the US - since that plan is heavily discounted, there is only one rate for everyone, no special Education pricing

Or, if you have 64bit operating systems, you could make a one time purchase of Photoshop Elements for each computer Adobe Elements bundle | Adobe Photoshop Elements 15 & Adobe Premiere Elements 15

This may be a roundabout solution but here goes... There is a company called TechSoup that provides licensing of software at deeply discounted prices to non-profits and especially libraries. Perhaps since you school is small and maybe your public library is small there is a way to work out an arrangement with TechSoup? Maybe you school library could qualify?

TechSoup Canada | Technology for Nonprofits and Charities

Hope this is helpful.
