About 10 months ago I started getting "Licensing for this product has stopped working" when opening Photoshop" but I thought I'd sorted that out. All other CS3 Creative Suite applications were OK. I've just spent 2 days uninstalling and reinstalling and now none of the applications will open.
I've been through the online files, had online support from 3 guys and the last one said that my CS3 will not work on Mac OSX 10.6.3. Is this right and if not how can I fix this problem?

Sorry but I've been there, done it, and got the bruises.
Solution 2 says
Solution 2: Run the License Repair Tool

Have you also tried the remaining solutions? This document is a fairly well vetted document. The licensing repair tool though does not work on newer versions of the Mac operating system however.

It seems to be resolved although I've only loaded Photoshop at present. I tried the solutions document twice and then reloaded my system software. When going through the solutions again Photoshop worked after deleting the "cache.db" file. Hopefully Illustrator and the others will load OK.
Can't say I'm impressed with Adobe as this seems to be a long running problem. Online support was about as useful as a chocolate teapot and some of the questions I was asked seemed to come from people with low computer knowledge. Oh well all's well now.
Thanks Mylenium and Jeff for your comments.

Jeff,
I have s similar problem. I am running Mac OS 10.8 on a MacBook Pro, mid-2009. I have the Master Collection of CS4. I upgraded the HD from 320GB to 1TB and restored everything from Time Machine. I have the disks. Should I just re-install over the old installation, should I uninstall everything first and then install or should I do something completely different?

Did you try the steps currently listed in this message thread?

The only solution I saw listed above was to use the Licensing Repair Tool - which does not work on my machine. The dialogue box says it doesn't support PowerPC processors. Having said that, I also tried Solution 1 from: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/error-licensing-stopped-mac-os.html. I do not have a Flex Net Publisher folder in the Library/Preferences/ folder. I did not try anything past Solutions 1 & 2.

Yes users who migrate or restore their software often end up having a variety of issues. If you have already tried the steps to resolve the licensing error then please utilize the uninstallers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers to attempt to remove the software. You will want to follow this by using the CS Cleaner Tool. You can find details of it's use at CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
If you continue to face difficulties then please format, reinstall your OS, and only restore your documents and settings. You should then be able to install from your installation media. I have seen users spend hours and days trying to recover from migrating or restoring from a Time Machine backup.

SWM, as I've mentioned above I had problems with this and tried "Licensing repair Tool" without success. I succeeded however when I deleted the "cache.db" file which is mentioned in Solution 6.
The journaling file exists only under specific circumstances where a client is accessing the database file with certain options enabled. If the file does not exist, continue to the next solution.
Using Finder, navigate to:
Important: The path above points to the Library folder at the root of the startup drive, not the Library folder in your user home folder.

Martin, thank you so much for your suggestion!
I'm running OSX 10.8.5 on my iMac (2.7 GHz Intel Core i5), and suddenly lost functionality of my Photoshop CS4 and Acrobat Pro 9 (both had been working perfectly not long ago)
Anyway, I deleted the "cache" file, as you suggested above (/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/cache), and now they're both working again.
When I re-launched both applications, all I had to do was re-enter my serial number(s), and I'm "good to go"!
Much appreciated...
