Hi Jeff:  back again, unfortunately.

I've just replaced my PC, moving to Windows 7 since XP will no longer be supported.

Tried to instal CS 2 but ther serial number I have is not accepted.  Do I need to download and start again, please?

Regards

Tattiehowker please make sure you are using the serial numbers on the download page as opposed to the serial number you were provided with your purchase.  If you still continue to face difficulties then you will want to make sure you are installing on a clean computer system and are not attempting to migrate/transfer the installed applications to a new computer.

I'm using the serial numbers that I took off the web site when I downloaded CS2 from the site last November, Geoff.  I am try to install that software on a new computer.  Should I perhaps start over and download again?

I wasn't sure how to do that, Jeff.

However, It occurred to me that perhaps I'd opened the files in the wrong order, so I uninstalled CS2 and tried again.  Unistall didn't seem to delete some of the files, though, so I said "yes to all" when asked to over write.

Serial number accepted now, but couldn't instal to C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Common Files\Adobe, so chose  C:\ProgramFiles\Common Files\Adobe instead.  That allowed instal to complete, but I then was asked to "insert Disc 2" and could not see how to do that, so  clicked "quit".  CS2 appears in All Programs and starts up but then there is the a message "your Photoshop username, organizer or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit".  My username, organisation and serial number appear on the start up frame that shows the version number and all the names of the developers.

Excellent Tattiehowker it sounds like progress is being made towards a solution!  I wondered if you would end up getting this error and actually reviewed Invalid user name, organization, or serial number error | Production Studio applications (Windows) - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/error-user-name-organization-or.html prior to providing the suggestions regarding renaming the directories.  Please try applying the steps offered in the document.
