Reinstalled Adobe Photoshop CS5 on a Mac - here's how.
I was able to reinstall Adobe Photoshop CS5 on a Mac. But the tips I was offered in this forum did not work. So for future browsers and google searchers, here's what I did.
I could not reinstall Adobe Photoshop CS5 on a Mac with OS X Sierra 10.1.2
The program which debuted in 2010 was not designed to work with it.
I tried tips and tricks from the Adobe forum to get this working, and the suggestions did not work.
Then I looked up the operating system that was in use when Photoshop Creative Suite 5 (CS5) came out in 2010.
That was Mac OS X Lion 10.7
I found out it was easier for me to download the next operating system Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8
So I downloaded and installed it on a flash drive.
Then I reformatted my main Mac drive, which of course wipes out 100 percent of your content, program, and settings.
Then I chose the option on reboot to install an operating system, and was given the option that allowed me to install Mountain Lion 10.8
After that installation, I clicked the install file for Photoshop CS 5 and had no problem.
Now, if you want to then take a risk of moving to a newer OS X that the program wasn't designed to work with, you can run the Apple software update, which you'll probably have to do in two steps (by allowing it to do an incremental update of Mountain Lion, and then Sierra which it will offer to you once you've run the first update.
I hope this helps some future searcher.
