Why are my adobe programs not Working?

Hello,

It started as a small problem a few months ago with a forum here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4876056#4876056

but now, whenever I try to open ANY of my adobe programs, they just don't open. It looks like they're opening... the icons bounce up and down... but then they stop and nothing happens.

I've also tried downloading the newest programs as a trial program, but when I went here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=illustrator&loc=en_us and pressed the "download now" button, I got something called "AdobeDownloadAssistant" that will not start when I click on it.

So I can't even open anything adobe... new or not. I'm running on a Mac OS X Version 10.5.8

I'm not that knowledgable in macs and such, but I am really desperate and at my wits end... it would be very appreciated if you could help. Thank you.

CS6 requires OSX 10.6 for most programs, so that's no use. The rest is still pretty vague and ominous. Perhaps there's some info in your system logs but to tell you the truth with issues that severe reinstalling the operating system with a full reinitialition (=formatting the drive) would probably be easier. you have introduced some "bad" system component which could be anything from a specific Quicktime CoDec, some system extension to more esoteric stuff...

I reset my computer/mac, and all the adobe programs seemed to work again... just no my illustrator (it will start up, but will not save a .ai file).
