Hi @Bryntel,

Thanks for writing to us. Please refer SFTP troubleshoot page and let us know if the issue gets resolved.

Have a pleasant day!

Try this workaround for servers with legacy connection protocols.

https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-sftp-server-connection-issues.html

Failing the above workaround, continue using CoreFTP client to transfer files.  Or roll back to your previous version of DW and server settings until your server is updated with new connection protocols.

A lot of older users still need Dreamweaver, especially for sites using Templates and 3rd party DW extensions.  My guess is that it will remain minimally active until it's no longer sustainable.

I use DW's code editor and site manager alongside other web tools like FileZilla & VS Code.   It's by no means the only tool in my arsenal.  But it works well for most of my needs.

What would be nice is a new software that works with all kinds of code. C#, Python, Java, etc. By work I mean offer code hinting, show errors, etc.

It sounds like Dreamweaver is not a priority and not something that will last too much longer. It is a big reason that I use CC. I use it more than other software in CC. I think CC should make full stack web developers an equal priority with other creative professionals.

Programming tools aren't sexy.

Adobe knows who their users are.  The lion's share of Enterprise & Teams want tools to manage documents (Acrobat), create digital content (2D & 3D design),  and manage assets (Adobe Experience).  If Adobe can spend $20 billion to acquire Figma, you know there's a reason.

Interesting. I never thought of it that way. If DW gets axed I can get some other editor. I like having the site manager and editor in the same package. It will be a bummer but on the other hand, maybe its time for a change anyways. DW is perfect for LAMP stacks with PHP and (I'm sure) applications that use server side JavaScript, but it is confining in many ways. There are a lot of other languages out there. I've never used much of anything else, so I don't know what to expect for features.

You might want to look at an actual IDE like PHP Storm by jetbrains

Using latest version of Dreamweaver on a MacBook Pro with OS Ventura, site hosted through Network Solutions, SFTP (nor FTP) cannot connect. FileZilla, no problem.

Please help with amateur instructions. I've read through every tiny piece of advice in this forum and nothing has solved this issue. Network Solutions blames Adobe. Seriously, this used to be so easy.

In June, Dreamweaver was updated with security enhancements for FTP, SFTP and FTPS connections.

What's New:  https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/whats-new/2022-1.html

Connect by FTP: https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/connect-remote-server.html#FTP-connections

Network Solutions is probably using old protocols.  If you have a previous version of Dreamweaver, use that instead.  Or just keep using FileZilla.

Did you try the workaround for legacy SFTP server connections?

Yes that constant reference to that page is a major source of the disappointment. Tried that multiple times (from what I understood, which wasn't much) only resulting in more failure. Again, this used to be so incredibly simple. I don't understand why Adobe would still include Dreamweaver without resolving these simple things for amateurs... and Network Solutions is a rather credible company (was, anyway) so it seems when something is released, they'd at least have instructions for novices. Thank you again for your time!

Jason, they are correct for blaming Adobe. If you downgrade back to the previous version your sftp will work again.

Hi @Jason Scarabin,

Thanks for reporting, we apologize for the delay in the response from our side on the reported SFTP connection failure with latest Dw version. We can have a remote connect session for trying other feasible workarounds by updating SFTP config file with required protocols compatible by the remote SFTP server. We have emailed you requesting your availability for the remote connect session for trying to resolve the connection issue with SFTP. As suggested by @Nancy OShea and @Renaissance501, have you tried connecting with previous Dw version and confirm if the connection is successful.

Also, after recreating the connection issue, can you please share SFTPError.log available under folder '/Users/<username>/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver 2021/<locale>/Configuration/SFTP/' for investigating the behaviour.

Have a pleasant day!

Thanks,

Nayan

Dreamweaver Team

The SSH protocols has nothing to do with this issue. I have tried this with the most up to date protocols on two separate workstations sending files to two separate servers.
