Question

AI update for Dreamweaver and PHP 8?

Hi,

If the developers are too busy to maintain Dreamweaver, would it not be feasible to get auto updates from PHP to update Dreamweaver?  It is a lot quicker than waiting for years with no progress.

If it can support Wordpress' block editor and Woocommerce, even better!

The developers are not too busy to maintain DW. Putting a solution in minimal maintenance was a business decision and the developers are told to work on something else. Also Wordpress has an uncertain future that could set a precedent for open source software moving forward if you are following the Automattic / WPEngine legal dispute.

I am on the founders side.  The business people are confused between business and open source.

Dreamweaver development is static. Nothing is happening except occasional security updates.

Get a PHP IDE/Editor that's in active development to use alongside Dreamweaver.

    PHPStorm by Jetbrains

    https://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/download/

    Rapid PHP Editor

    https://www.rapidphpeditor.com/

Visual Studio Code with extensions for PHP

    https://code.visualstudio.com/

    https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/languages/php

    Eclipse IDE for PHP

    https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/

    Hope that helps.

Instead of spending time to update Dreamweaver, why not jump ship and use an IDE that does receive timely updates.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

Why?  When Dreamweaver is a great program, it just needs some TLC.  I like the integration with other Adobe products.
